Miriam, I'd be concerned if someone came unannounced on my property for any reason so always better to check. The trouble with mosquitos is the West Nile potential besides finding us delicious and leaving us with unsightly red, itchy marks if we're not careful.

I don't know if lavender alone will do it. I did hear about that from a colleague who lived in Puerto Rico for awhile and said it worked really well so I use a spray mixture of that essential oil with water for light outside time in the Summer--shopping, popping out for a quick errand walk of a few minutes. For extended time it has to be deet-free real spray I find. Citronella didn't seem to cut it.

I respect and applaud your desire to take care of the living world overall though.

I love reading all the natural ways mosquitos can be kept under control in the garden. Thank you for sharing them! Having grown up in multiple Arizona locations, I lived with the toxic sprays that were applied monthly for scorpions and spiders. I’m happy we all survived them!

I too provide an all-too-tasty treat for mosquitos. In Arizona and California, they were big though to simply move out of their way. In South Africa, Connecticut and New York City, they are tiny little things that loved to feed on me. And then I read a piece of internet advice - something I very rarely follow. And it works!!! I now take one odorless garlic capsule a day from May through September, and over the course of 5 or 6 years, zero mosquito bites. I don’t taste garlic nor do I smell it on my skin, but mosquitos sure don’t like it!

From one bite-sufferer to another, i hope this proves helpful! 💕♥️💕

Hey Cathy! I didn’t realize you were from Arizona. We’re up at 6,000 feet here so we don’t have a ton of skeeters typically. But the last two summers were brutal. Who knows.

I love your idea of the garlic supplements. I eat a lot of garlic! But maybe not enough. I’m gonna give this a try. Thank you! 🧡🧡

It’s been ages since I have been to Prescott, but remember its beauty. I grew up in Tucson and we moved to Phoenix/Scottsdale from there.

If it helps, I can vouch for Kyolic 100. Let me know if you try it! 🤞🤞

Hmmm….I wrote Prescott but was thinking of Payson. I am sure I was in Prescott at some point, but it is Payson I remember. (Sometimes my obsessing is over something that was truly a mistake!) 😏
