Well, now I just have serious porch envy! 😂 But in all seriousness, neighbors used to gather in our front yard, before it's conversion to a medicinal plant garden. While I'm grateful for my plants (obvi!), I do miss having a communal place to gather impromptu. Especially here in the rainy, rainy PNW...where having a rain-covered space would be so helpful.

Oh I know that feeling. I feel like I'm so lucky to have this fabulous porch in my life now. But, a medicinal garden is pretty frickin amazing too! I've been growing medicinal herbs in my courtyard kitchen garden for years too. I'm a wanna-be herbalist, but I've wound up shifting to more of a mixture with cutting flowers along with the herbs. I'm just following my heart :) Our youngest son and his wife just moved to Corvallis OR for a few years (she's in medical school there) and it's kind of alarming to see all those cloudy/rainy days when I check the weather app for their area. But then that's why it's so lush and green. I'm a sun lover myself so I prefer this part of the southwest. Hey - Did you catch Part III of this series?

My front porch here in Florida is how I meet a lot of people passing by.

I love your photos. I once had a beautiful Queen Anne Style house with an amazing wrap-around porch. Sadly my current house has more of a front patio than a porch, but it does the job. We have a place to sit under an awning and hang out with whoever arrives.

Hi Martina! Me too. It's lovely to have such casual interactions. And you meet the most amazing people you would otherwise likely never meet! Our porch gatherings are quite the event these days - zero planning but so much fun. I'm so glad you're enjoying the photos :) You made my day.

This makes me think of Anne of Green Gables! Wasn't Marilla, or someone else in the story too, sitting on the porch, watching the villagers... Loved that book and film. Beautiful villas and porches!

Oh my goodness. Thank you for reminding me of that lovely book. I’m adding it to my read-again list now. Of course it seems I read it about a hundred years ago so it’ll be like a first time again.
